ANNOUNCEMENTS
Guest Preacher for Trinity Sunday, Father’s Day and Sunday Forum
The Reverend Deborah Lee, Co Director of Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity will be preaching at St. John’s on Father’s Day, June 15. Rev. Lee will also lead the Sunday Forum after worship and discuss what their organization is doing to help immigrants and refugees, and how churches can respond.
Make a Difference at St. John’s … Volunteer to Help
Training is available for all volunteer duties. Thank you, in advance, for considering these opportunities to meet, converse, laugh and build friendships with your fellow parishioners:
1) The Ushering team is looking for people who would like to support worship services by acting as ushers on Sunday mornings. Ushers come early to set up (and hear amazing choir and organ rehearsals) before the service; stick around during the service passing out bulletins and greeting people as they arrive, and taking the offertory; and then finish up the morning by clearing up and putting worship materials away until the following Sunday. Contact Lisa if you’d like more information.
2) The Coffee Hour fellowship crew is also seeking people to assist on Sunday.
Coffee Hour crew members volunteer to set up refreshments, be the host, and then cleanup. Sign up once, or for a particular Sunday every month. One may also team up with others. There are cookies, crackers, and drinks in the pantry, which one may serve, or one is welcome to bring other snacks to share. Contact Elizabeth Patelke, or look for the sign-up calendar on the coffee hour table.
Children’s Art Show
Art from the children, from the Berkeley Presbyterian Mission Homes’ limited art program with Julia Oversloot, will be on display on July 6 during coffee hour in the Campbell Room. Some of the work was displayed at the Adobe Gallery in Castro Valley from May 10 to May 31. Manju Noone and I took the children to the Reception on May 10 where Ruth Mai was presented a “Youth Award.” The art reflects the work by children ages 4 to 14 years old. – Julia Oversloot
