1 WEEK CAMP for ages 6 to 13: Monday- Friday
July 27 through July 31, 2026
Under the Redwoods at St. John's you will find a place of peace and acceptance, where we value the abilities and interests of each camper and all are welcome. Camp Elmwood is a community service program of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Berkeley, emphasizing creativity, values, and concern for the environment and others, since 1993.
Camp Elmwood is an excellent adventure to end your summer! If you have been to camp, or you go all the time, campers will learn new skills, make lasting friendships, and experience a unique camp in an urban setting.
CAMP SCHEDULE - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Monday through Friday, July 27 through July 30, from 9am to 2pm;
and Jul 31 (Friday) 9am to 7pm.
ACTIVITIES - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Art, basketball, volleyball, four-square, ping pong, lawn games, music, drama, dance, science, cooking, swim-hike, talent show, community service and opportunities for leadership.
We will provide the morning snacks.
Each camper should bring his or her own lunch and a filled, reusable water bottle everyday.
We will comply with all CDC guidelines - wearing masks is optional. There will be hand-washing and hand sanitizer stations on campus to help keep everyone safe. The field trip and the BBQ is conditional on COVID19 guidelines at the time of our camp.
SPECIAL DAYS - - - - - - - - - - - - -
WEDNESDAY : Hike/Swim field trip to favorite swimming hole. Please have Campers arrive at camp wearing their swimsuit under their clothes.
FRIDAY : Camp Elmwood will continue until 7pm for the all-camp barbeque (free to all campers and their families) which starts at 5pm, and for an extraordinary Talent Show program starting at 6pm. The TLC will develop the menu and a list will go home with your camper on Wednesday requesting a food item to be used for the barbecue.

$140 for each camper. Scholarships are available via the registration form.
Aftercare is available Monday-Friday, from 2 to 5:30pm is also available for $50 per camper for the week.

The camp includes activities that involve movement-based group activities like walking and running, in indoor and outdoor games. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all campers.
If your child has any mobility restrictions, physical limitations, or medical conditions that may affect participation, please contact the Camp Director Manju Noone, manju@stjohnsberkeley.org, before completing registration so we can discuss your child's needs and determine whether our program can safely and reasonably support them. This conversation helps us to understand your child's needs, explore reasonable accommodations where possible,and ensure the safety and enjoyment of all campers. Registration will be confirmed after this discussion.

PLUS AN AWESOME 2-wEEK TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP FOR AGES 14-17
Monday- Friday, July 20 thru JULY 31, 2026
TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP (TLC) runs for two memorable weeks
WEEK ONE - - - - - - - - - - - - -
During July 20-July 24, the TLC is a week of teen counselors getting to know eachother and learning leadership skills. Many of the activities and discussions are on child development, classroom management, public speaking, and group dynamics - all useful traits that may be used at Camp Elmwood to make real-life decisions.
During TLC week, the group will develop the Camp Elmwood curriculum (games, learning opportunities and activities) around our selected camp theme. TLC will also have a beach field trip. Successful completion of Camp Elmwood's TLC is required to participate as a teen counselor at Camp Elmwood.
WEEK TWO - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The second week, July 27-Jul 31, is when the TLC shines! Using the training from Week One, it is the teen's time to mentor and lead the Camp Elmwood youth (ages 6 to 13). Returning counselors are a bonus (and we get many of them!) because they know how to make the camp more entertaining and embrace it with camaraderie.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:45am to 2:30pm;
Wednesday, 8:30am to 2:30pm - this is the Field Trip day
• July 27-July 31:
Monday through Thursday, 8:45am to 2:30pm;
Friday, 8:45am to 7:30pm (there will be a wrap-up meeting at 7pm)
PLUS > Each teen will also participate in a minimum of two Camp Elmwood after-care sessions (2:30 to 5:30pm) in the second week of Camp.
Each teen will bring his or her own lunch, a refillable water bottle and a food contribution for our Friday BBQs. We will provide morning snacks.

The TLC will be doing something special on Wednesday, July 22, from 8am to 3pm: We will be on an outing. On Friday afternoon, teens will be preparing barbecue lunch items, cooking in the kitchen and on the grill.

Camp Elmwood is free for TLC!
In fact, teens accepted to be counselors at Camp Elmwood will receive an honorarium of $50 in appreciation of their service, AND an official certificate for up to 60 Community Service hours.
