Jamie Apgar


At St. John’s, Jamie leads congregational singing, accompanies the choir, provides additional music during the services, and assists the Rev. Todd Jolly in running the music program.

Outside the church, Jamie is a Ph.D. candidate in the History and Literature of Music program at UC Berkeley, where he is writing a dissertation on music of Elizabethan England. He also has extensive experience on both the organ and harpsichord, playing with professional ensembles on both US coasts.

A chorister since age 8, Jamie has sung professionally with countless church choirs and chamber groups, including the Choir of Washington National Cathedral. In the Bay Area he sings with American Bach Soloists and Pacific Collegium. Jamie has been at St. John’s since August 2013.
